Garden City Fire Department earns improved ISO rating
Garden City residents may see lower home insurance premiums after the Garden City Fire Department raised its Public Protection Classification from 8 to 2. Fire Chief Allen Shelton presented the ISO PPC report to city commissioners, noting contributions from emergency communications and water departments. The improved rating, covering calls inside city limits and within five miles of two stations, depends on water flow, equipment, staffing, training, and community risk reduction. Exact premium savings vary by insurer. See Savings. Page A5
