Democrats unveil sweeping bills to counter Brownback agenda
Democrats in Topeka announced a package of proposals designed to counter Gov. Sam Brownback and aid working Kansans. The measures, many long discussed, include protecting teachers due process, letting cities enact paid time off and fair scheduling rules, mandating 70 percent of state contractor employees reside in Kansas, and strengthening workers compensation. House leaders said the package would require little state funding while the Legislature cooperates across parties.
