House advances state education bill in Topeka
The Kansas House moved a bill aimed at boosting public school aid and backing university repairs. It earmarks 271.7 million in two years to fund a 2006 school spending pledge and 76.6 million over five years to repay Regents bonds, freeing funds for campus maintenance. The measure also adds 80 million to repay 2004 pension bonds, with passage tied to revenues. Senate version omits these items and forms a maintenance task force.
