Not too late to get flu shot in Kansas
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment urges anyone not yet vaccinated to receive the flu shot. One case of influenza type A was confirmed in northwest Kansas in late December. Health officials note the vaccine is about 80 percent effective, cannot cause flu, and yearly vaccination is advised for high risk groups including seniors, nursing home residents, those with chronic conditions, pregnant women, and the immunocompromised. The peak season runs late December through March.
