Volunteers sought for Miles of Smiles therapeutic horsemanship program
The Miles of Smiles program seeks volunteers for the upcoming session offering therapeutic horsemanship lessons for individuals with mental physical and emotional disabilities. New volunteers must attend a 1 p.m. Saturday training at 901 W Maple St. Session starts Feb 2 with lessons 6-7 p.m. Monday Tuesday Thursday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Earthquakes strike southern Kansas and north Oklahoma
A cluster of quakes hit southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma early Monday with four events in two hours. The strongest, a 4.1 magnitude, occurred nine miles east of Cherokee at 4:20 a.m., followed by a 3.9 near Anthony and a 2.7 near Caldwell. No damage reported.
