Rain brings rare warmth as southwest Kansas dodges deeper drought
After weeks of winter storms and a rare Monday rain event, southwest Kansas sees moisture narrow its precipitation deficit to .09 inches below normal. Garden City gained .11 inches Monday and .14 inches in January, with total since Dec. 1 at 0.21 inches. Meteorologist Mike Scott calls the midwinter rain unusual and notes ongoing drought, though any moisture helps.
