Second winter storm lacks punch in Kansas stores
The second winter storm eased demand after the first caused extensive damage and outages across southwestern Kansas. Westlake Ace Hardware reported stockouts of propane, batteries, ice melt and related supplies while Pioneer Electric Cooperative reduced outages to about 400 miles of line with 1 000 meters still without power. Local retailers like Wal Mart and Target kept varying stock as shoppers bought up winter gear and home goods, with forecasts showing temperatures in the 20s to 30s and a small chance of weekend precipitation.
