FCEDC to dip into reserves for 2008 budget plan
Finney County Economic Development Corp officials approve a 2008 budget tapping about 25 percent of cash reserves to fund retention and recruitment efforts. The plan shows $170,941 rolled over from last year and fixed expenses rising to $253,094. The total budget is $309,094 with $56,000 for workforce training marketing and related activities.

TOPEKA HNS A group funded heavily by a St Louis coal company spent 100000 last year to sway opinion against a state regulator’s decision blocking two southwest Kansas coal fired plants. Kansans for Affordable Energy filed a campaign report showing Peabody Investments Corp contributed 120000 or about 83 percent of its funds. Sunflower Electric Corp based in Hays provided 25000.
