Lane County commissioners plan to file articles of incorporation with the Kansas Secretary of State this week to form the Lane County Senior Foundation. The five member board will be seated on filing, with terms for Judy Timken Bill Taldo and Carla Schmalzried, and county officials Bud Newberry and John Lawrence already appointed. The foundation aims to build assisted living units at four potential Dighton sites with estimated costs 75000 to 87000 per unit, funded without county tax dollars, and operated to repay through profits. A town hall will invite public input on the project, and tax credit options with state officials are being explored.
