Three Drives Gather 3000 Rabbits in Western Kansas
Farmers and townsfolk conducted three rabbit drives across Lakin Liberal and Sharon Springs. About 250 275 hunters at Lakin killed 300 rabbits two sections north of the sandhills with 126 on the first drive and 175 on the second without pens. Liberal drive yielded 1500 rabbits by about 1500 participants across six sections. Sharon Springs drive with 500 people killed 1000 rabbits Sunday. Carcasses sold for seven and ten cents to mink and hog farmers. The drought damaged winter wheat and alfalfa faces heavy loss from jackrabbits.

One Man Killed When Blast Wrecks Building
An explosion believed to be gas caused a wrecked three story apartment house near the Loop in Chicago. Joseph Fernandez, 8, died of burns two hours after the blast. Two women were injured in the blaze that also damaged the structure and apartment interiors.

Funeral services are set for 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at the high school auditorium, with Rev. Franklyn Edwards officiating. Interment will be in Dighton Cemetery. friends may pay respects tonight at Phillips Funeral home.

Four Bodies Found After Missouri Shooting
Four persons were found shot to death in Springfield Missouri in what officers called murder and death by own action. The victims include Earl Brake about 22 his wife Sylvia about 22 their daughter Janice 3 and a woman identified as Mrs Brake's mother Ethel Keller about 50 of Fordland Missouri. Deputy Sheriff George Spencer said Brake apparently shot the three and then killed himself.
