Ulysses Family Pet Deer Shot by Game Wardens
A western Kansas family protests after game wardens killed their two year old mule deer that had become a household pet. Neighbors and relatives recall the deer as tame and affectionate, while wildlife officials say the animal posed injury and disease risks and discuss options like relocation or rehab before euthanasia. Kansas law bars keeping wild animals as pets, and officials note imprinting on people often leads to euthanasia. The family plans to speak at a Kansas See Deer, Page A5.
