Holcomb overwhelms Lakin 83 39 as Longhorns roll without Bird
Holcomb High School, ranked No. 1 in The Telegram poll, overwhelmed Lakin 83 39 in a Hi Plains League clash. Longhorns forced 24 turnovers and shot 51 percent while missing Beau Bird who sat out with the flu. Jacob VanCampen led Lakin with 12 rebounds as Holcomb built a 10-6 first quarter lead and expanded to 43-14 at halftime. Michaelis blamed smart defense and absence of Bird for the rough night and looks to rebound against Goodland.
