Heavy Snow Rips Across Region, Links to Several Deaths
A major snowstorm blankets the East from Kentucky to Maine, closing schools in numerous counties and causing widespread outages. Across the region, at least seven deaths are blamed on the weather as heavy snow disrupts travel and power. Buffalo saw 7 feet of snow in an earlier lake effect storm, while Pennsylvania and New York reported traffic dangers and outages. Thousands lose power in West Virginia as utilities work to restore service.
