Former pastor tests faith as yearlong atheist experiment
Ryan Bell, a former Seventh-day Adventist pastor, began a 12 month period living as if there is no God. He attended a Las Vegas skeptics convention, spoke publicly about doubt, faced strong criticism, lost teaching roles, and wrestled with meaning, faith, and belonging while dating a Christian open to doubt. He plans to conclude the year January 1 and remains unsure where his beliefs will land.
