Former Cimarron Resident Killed in Yemen Missionary Attack
An American missionary, Bill Koehn, formerly of Cimarron, and two other missionaries were killed by a gunman at a Baptist hospital in Jibla Yemen. The hospital treats over 40,000 patients yearly and offers free care to those unable to pay. A fourth missionary was wounded but expected to survive. The attacker, Abed Abdul Razak Kamel, hid a rifle under his robes to bypass security. The slain were Martha C. Myers of Alabama and Kathleen A. Gariety of Wisconsin, with Donald W. Caswell of Texas wounded. Koehn's sister described their dedication and plans to retire in 2003 in Texas.
