Petition drives for rental smoke detector inspections grows
Holcomb resident Randi Gray started a Change.org petition and a Facebook group pushing mandatory smoke detector inspections in all rental homes after a fatal January fire at 4220 E Nancy Ave Lot 1108 that killed Nichole Savoy and her two young daughters. Preliminary autopsies cited smoke inhalation and Garden City Fire Chief Allen Shelton confirmed no detectors were in the home. The petition has 512 signatures as of Tuesday. Gray hopes to keep the issue in public view following a January 28 benefit for the Savoy family.
