Cheney credits tax cut for cushioning recession and boosting rebound
Vice President Dick Cheney said the across the board tax cut helped soften last year’s recession and will support a solid rebound in 2002. He cited a Council of Economic Advisers analysis noting $36 billion in rebate checks and projected 800,000 private sector jobs, while Democrats criticized the claims as revisionist.
