NEW YORK AP The Eastern Air Lines plane carrying 84 people to a likely death in the Atlantic off Long Island Monday night marks the second major world air disaster in three days and the worst in the United States this year. A Chilean Airlines DC6B propeller plane crashed near Santiago last Saturday, killing 87. The last similar U.S. disaster was last February when a propeller driven Constellation crashed into a hillside near Lake Tahoe, California, killing 88 but not involving a scheduled airline.
