County commissioners will study a proposed five mile east-west road in Garfield township north of Finney County State Park. Elmer Larson, a southern Michigan prison guard, escorted inmate William Thomas about 60 miles to attend his sister’s funeral. Thomas was handcuffed on the trip but the guardsman removed the restraints for the service. Moments after turning away, Thomas fled the funeral. He was serving a term for carrying concealed weapons.
