Area students were eligible to participate in the Fall 2001 commencement exercises at Pittsburg State University on Dec. 14. Emily Diane Perry of Deerfield earned a Bachelor of Science, Alan D. Conservation poster contest winners announced across Finney County
The Finney County Conservation District held its annual fourth grade poster contest with participation from ten schools and 21 classes, over 500 students. Winners from each class were displayed at the Finney County Library in November, with first place advancing to state and possibly national competition. A December dinner honored top entrants at Florence Wilson Elementary, with Sara Kinderknecht of St. Dominic taking first prize a 12 speed bicycle, and other placements and honorable mentions noted among students from multiple schools.
