Kline and Morrison dominate Kansas politics in 2006
Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline, defeated by Paul Morrison, faced criminal charges against Wichita physician George Tiller. Morrison, a former Republican who switched parties, challenged Kline amid abortion records disputes and campaign strategy. Other Kansas headlines included Rep. Jim Ryan’s reelection bid, Gov. Sebelius’s easy victory, and education board battles before a 541 million dollar school aid plan. The year also saw drought harms to farms, a Fort Riley housing boom, concealed carry law passage, Barton County fraud cases, and Eisenhower archives releases.
