Major winter storm stays south of Kansas
Southwest Kansas dodged a predicted major winter storm with blizzard conditions forecast for the southern half of the state, while Elkhart Liberal and Dodge City saw lighter impact and eastward tracks shifted, leaving El Paso and parts of New Mexico with higher winds and big drifts elsewhere. The system, driven by jet stream patterns, largely spared Garden City and central Kansas, with 4 to 7 inches possible overnight in some areas and minimal drifting due to diminishing winds.
