Appeal over tax funded church construction in Taos area
A Taos area group of six homeowners appeals Santa Fe County decision to fund water line and sewage system for a church using a hallucinogenic tea as a sacrament. They argue taxpayer funds violate NM anti donation clause and the U S Constitution separation of church and state. The UDV church has fought authorities for a decade and opposes disclosure. In St Louis a 19th century Bible stolen from St Johns Lutheran Church was found at an antique shop and a suspect arrested. Police believe the suspect is linked to six burglaries at the church since September and an anonymous donor funds a security system.
