Richard Dick Ramsey 71, longtime Scott County resident, passed away Wednesday at Scott County Hospital after a cancer battle. A farmer famed for straight crop rows he also served on the Lane Scott Electric and co op boards and was a Scott County commissioner. He and his wife Joyce raised three children and valued family Sundays and community service. Ramsey was born February 12 1933 to Glen and Aileen Biggs Ramsey, educated at Scott Community High School and Kansas State University, and active in First United Methodist Church 4-H and local committees. Funeral held 2 p.m. today at United Methodist Church Scott City with burial in Scott County Cemetery.

Cold snap froze pipes at the Finney County Administrative Center 311 N Ninth St then a fitting burst as temperatures rose. Water flooded the foyer and stairs to about two inches deep and four feet wide triggering a fire alarm. Maintenance crews worked until 11 pm clearing water and damaged tiles. Estimated damage was unknown with repairs expected to take days for heat strips and a week for aesthetics.
