Wichita seeks cap on historic tax credits impact on downtown
Wichita hopes to end or loosen a state cap on historic tax credits that has stalled local projects. The Broadview Hotel and about 20 other Wichita buildings have relied on credits worth about 25 percent of project costs, with developers warning that a 3.75 million cap per year across Kansas slows redevelopment and threatens financing. City leaders and developers urge a predictable program to preserve architectural heritage while supporting the 20 year downtown plan.
