A power outage hit Garden City and Holcomb Tuesday afternoon when a short in the south west Garden City substation on St Johns Street cut electricity from 12:30 to 1:00 pm. Melting snow likely caused the outage, which Sunn sunflower Electric says was the first in 15 years. The substation returned to service by about 3 pm and the Dillons store at 1305 E Kansas Ave reported loss of power around 12:50 pm.
