Honduran President’s Daughter Freed After Captivity
Dr. Judith Xiomara Suazo Estrada, a 33 year old radiologist and daughter of Honduran President Roberto Suazo Cordova, was released in downtown Guatemala City after nine days in the clutches of the Pedro Diaz Command. The abductors, who had demanded an anti US manifesto, had warned of death if their terms were not met. Newspapers in Mexico and Central America published the statement as a family paid advertisement.

Book claims plot to oust Brezhnev
London AP reports two Soviet writers exile Edward Topol and Fridrikh Neznansky claim in a new book that Yuri Andropov plotted to overthrow Brezhnev earlier this year. They allege Andropov arranged the murder of KGB deputy general Semyon Tsvigun, Brezhnev’s informer, amid a crackdown on black marketeers. The manuscript titled Red Square blends fact and fiction, with publishers calling it basically true.

Correction fixes in Owston story and notes on novel
The Telegram correction clarifies Cliff Owston’s son is Chris, not Curtis, and cites Jennifer Bradshaw noting Andropov’s motive in a manuscript to seize power. The tongue in cheek line says all characters are fictitious, with Neznansky as Brezhnev’s investigator. It also references Operation Cascade and Boris the Gypsy amid real events.
