Dodgers nix Johnson deal as Beltran talks stall
In New York the Johnson trade to the Yankees collapsed after the Dodgers withdrew from a proposed three-team, 10-player package involving Arizona and New York. Dodgers GM Paul DePodesta cited lack of fit for 2005 and unfinished details as the reason, while Yankees officials lamented the broken agreement and indicated they may rethink future dealings with the Dodgers. Diamondbacks executive Ken Kendrick aims to resolve Johnson’s status by month’s end.
