Riot at California prison injures five inmates

In a Thursday yard brawl at California State Prison Los Angeles County near Lancaster more than 300 inmates fought. Five inmates were hospitalized with puncture wounds and 12 treated for cuts as guards used pepper spray tear gas and warning shots to quell the fight.

Teen pleads guilty in Paterson beating death

A 15 year old accepted a manslaughter plea in the June 20 Paterson attack that killed Hector Robles 42. He will testify against the other 12 youths as eight are to be tried as adults on murder robbery and riot charges while four other 15 year olds await decisions.
