Jay Phillip Crabb, 25, a reporter for the Topeka Capital Journal, died in an early morning crash about six miles east of Ottawa. The Highway Patrol said he was alone in the car when he left the highway and was ejected as it overturned. Crabb was a former Colby resident and a graduate of Kansas State University.

Garden City Unified School District presented a sacred Christmas music program in Clifford Hope Auditorium led by Vaughn Lippoldt. Mixed Chorus and Robed Choir performed five carols and a cantata Joyous Ye Shall Be Today with poems by Ella Rose Halloran set to music. Soloists included Janeth Plett Barbara Ramsey and others. The Song Children Sing featured an all boys choir from Hutchinson Elementary School. The audience heard through sheet music and many attendees heard on radio.

Hazle Callison died early Tuesday at her home 313 North 10th after a short illness. Born August 25 1904 in Kansas City Missouri she moved to Garden City with her parents in 1914. She taught did office work owned and sold the Callison Gift Shop and later sold magazine subscriptions. She belonged to Eastern Star Rebekah Lodge and AAUW. Surviving are her brother Eugene Callison of Paris France and a niece Mrs. Stanley Warren Black of Washington DC. Announced by Garnand Funeral Home.

Counterfeit Charges Filed in Arkansas Arrests
Four Oklahoma residents were held in Arkansas on counterfeit currency charges with $10,000 bonds each. Luther Weatherford of Oklahoma City and Donald Eldridge of McAlister faced passing and possessing counterfeit $20 bills, while Betty Lambert and Norma Sharp, both of Oklahoma City and McAlister, were charged with possessing and passing counterfeit notes. About $4,500 in bogus bills was recovered. Weatherford allegedly passed four bills and Eldridge one in Texarkana after multiple store alerts.
