Accused arsonist to plead insanity
A 36 year old Garden City woman, Jan Dirks, plans to plead insanity at trial for allegedly setting fire to her fourplex in August. Prosecutors say she deliberately started the blaze, endangering tenants, and she faces aggravated arson charges with a potential four to 20 year sentence. Her arraignment followed a preliminary hearing, and a March 18 2002 trial date was set with bond at 200000.
