Rodney Brown, once named the national cystic fibrosis poster child, learned at age 13 he does not have CF but an asthma like condition. Tests over months at Johns Hopkins, Children’s Hospital DC, and NIH corrected the record after the Browns moved near Baltimore. The family kept the mistake private until it surfaced when an Indianapolis Star reporter inquired. The Browns await clearer tests and renewed research for better diagnostics.
