Sunflower gets permit for 895 MW coal unit at Holcomb plant
Kansas Department of Health and Environment approves an air quality permit for Sunflower Electric Power Corp to build an 895 megawatt coal fired unit at the Holcomb site. Acting secretary John W. Mitchell says review was thorough, with input from the public and EPA, and the plant will emit 40 percent less pollution than earlier Sunflower plans. The permit includes renewable energy components and aims for state of the art emission controls.
