Obama to name Vilsack as agriculture secretary
President elect Barack Obama selected former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack for agriculture secretary, with an announcement planned at a joint news conference also signaling Colorado Senator Ken Salazar as interior secretary. Vilsack, a former opponent turned ally, focused on education and energy in Iowa, while Salazar has pushed land conservation and energy balance. If confirmed, Ritter would replace him in the Senate.
