Razor confiscated after high school incident in Garden City
Police report a straight edged razor used to threaten another student during a 230 pm argument in the Garden City High School south parking lot. Both 17 year old males involved. no injuries and no charges pressed. Names held as juveniles. A school official notified police. In a separate case, $1020 cash was stolen from Joe Bird of 215 Meadow Lark Park after he withdrew $1000 to buy a pickup. The wallet containing the cash was later recovered minus the money. Sheriff Grover Craig noted the delay in reporting.

Deportation of seven aliens near Ingalls in Cimarron County
An immigration officer reported seven aliens living near Ingalls were deported to Mexico after being picked up by Gray County deputies with stolen merchandise from a Clark County feedyard. Octaviano Rosas Jr. 31 of 211 W Fair had a forgery charge refiled after a prior case. He allegedly endorsed a State of Kansas check not payable to him and cashed it at Walls IGA. A jury trial was set for November but dismissed when handwriting samples were ruled inadmissible. Rosas free on 3500 bond. preliminary hearing December 22. Jimmy D. Petty 18 of 218 2 Burnside charged with forgery for signing another’s name to a Wheatbelt Motors check on November 26. Preliminary hearing December 23. Petty free on 5000 bond.

Deerfield Man Found Innocent in Knife Attack Case
Joe R. Rodriguez, 64, of Deerfield was acquitted by a Kearny County jury of aggravated battery in a July 27 knife incident that left another Deerfield man hospitalized. The three hour deliberation ended Tuesday afternoon after a trial that began Monday. Rodriguez was released from custody.
