Moran Starts 8th Annual Big First Listening Tour

Diabetes self management class rescheduled at St. Catherine Hospital

Windy Southwest Kansas Storm Closes Roads Schools Early

A fast moving storm brought high winds and light snow to southwest Kansas halting traffic on Kansas Highway 96 from Scott City to Scott and closing US 160 to the Colorado line. Wind gusts reached 44 mph near Garden City and power outages affected Garden City area for about ninety minutes. Schools in Tribune and along K 96 dismissed early as the system moved east. The National Weather Service forecast mostly clear skies with temperatures rising to 56 by week’s end.

Foundation getting organized for USD 457 gifts

Garden City USD 457 moved to form an advisory committee for its Education Plus Foundation Fund. The Western Kansas Community Foundation will oversee the foundation, providing structure and expertise. The initial pot includes 2000 in donations from Security Savings Bank and the Rotary Club as the board explores how to fund teacher grants and district projects through gifts and endowments.
