City saves seven million on sewer project bids
The city slashed an estimated 2.2 million interceptor sewer project to 1.29 million by splitting into three phases. Rhoades Construction will handle phases two and three from Jan 15 to Nov 15, while Albenesius Contracting of Jackson will undertake phase one from Jan 1 to Apr 1. The plan, urged by Lot Taylor of Taylor and Associates, saved about 68 thousand in fees and reflects a hungry market with 18 bids from about 30 contractors. The interceptor will serve growth in the north, sending sewage to the southeast treatment plant, with a separate drainage ditch widening estimated at 645 thousand.
