Study on unhealthy air effect sparks calls for federal look
Biologist Dick Wittberg heads the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department in Marietta Ohio. He pushes for a government study on manganese pollution's health impact after a 1990s pilot linked poorer performance in Marietta children to environmental factors. Mayors in Ecorse Michigan urge CDC investigation into industrial toxins from US Steel.

Be It Worth It To Finesse In Five Clubs
South is in five clubs after a heart lead and sees two spades and a diamond as the only potential losers. By avoiding the two way diamond finesse and cashing high hearts, trumps are drawn, then a spade can be played to finish the contract. A diamond return or a ruff in dummy ends the issue.
