Accident sends two to hospital near Copeland
Sublette man Chad Lanik 24 lost control of a 2001 Chevrolet on Gray County Road HH near Copeland. His truck hit a dirt embankment and became airborne before landing on its roof. Passenger Christopher Remmenga from Beatrice Neb was injured. Both were transported to Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. Neither wore a seat belt.

DUI Checkpoint Planned in Finney County Friday Night
The Finney County Sheriff's Office and Kansas Highway Patrol will run a DUI sobriety checklane in Finney County from 10 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday. Extra deputies will monitor for impaired drivers to reduce highway injuries and deaths as part of the Impaired Driving Deterrence Program and national mobilization campaign You Drink and Drive You Lose.

Police search nets evidence in sex crime case
Garden City police and the Haskell County Sheriff's Office searched the Sublette home of Pascual Rodriguez II 41 in connection with three counts of indecent liberties with a child. The investigation ties to alleged sexual assaults of two 13-year-old girls at the Kansas Army National Guard Armory in May. Rodriguez is already jailed on two counts of rape involving a 12-year-old girl with alleged incidents in April and is facing a December pretrial conference after pleading not guilty.
