Garden City recreation offers six week classes start soon
The Garden City Recreation Commission at 310 Sixth St opens six week classes including line dancing taught by Nancy Randolph Tuesdays 6 30 to 7 45 pm for 24 dollars per person. Nancy and Jeff Randolph pattern dance Tuesdays 7 45 to 9 15 pm 58 per couple. Ballroom dance with Al and Linda Miller 7 to 8 90 pm 38 per couple. Al Miller guitar for seventh grade to adults Tuesdays 6 to 6 50 pm 45 per student. Other January 9 classes include pre kindergarten dance 4 20 to 5 45 pm 35 and grades one to six 5 to 5 45 pm 50. Look Good Feel Better volunteer earns state Sunrise Award
Nancy Bieker, a breast cancer survivor and longtime Look Good Feel Better volunteer, received the State Sunrise Award at St Catherine Hospital for her leadership in expanding services across western Kansas. The program, run with the American Cancer Society and partners, began in Garden City in 2014 and now offers workshops every other month helping up to six patients with skincare makeup and confidence. Bieker’s efforts include recruiting patients stocking supplies and coordinating events, with support from nurses Lisa Beggs Heather Wright Renick and others who credit her with boosting patient self esteem and the program’s reach.
