Garden City Christmas Parade Brings City Out In Cold
Hundreds braved overcast skies and cold as Garden City and area residents lined Main Street for the annual Christmas Parade. Santa rode in an antique car, Shriners on red motorcycles tossed candy, and the High School band led a sequence of floats from churches, youth groups, and local clubs including the J aycees, 4-H clubs, and the Garden City Roping Club. The event ended with live animals and a grand float lineup reflecting Christmas themes, wrapping up the 1064 parade.

Realignment suit seeks reapportionment of Kansas House
A Kansas Supreme Court hearing considers forcing population based reapportionment of all 125 House seats after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling. Hutchinson executives led by John P. Harris argue a Kansas provision granting one representative per county should stand. State officials including Gov. John Anderson oppose, urging the court to retain jurisdiction while the 1965 Legislature reapportions under the decision.
