Area children write letters to Santa and will see them in The Garden City Telegram before they are sent to the North Pole. The Telegram plans to publish Santa letters on December 22 and asks parents to have letters received by December 20 to allow time for printing before forwarding to Santa.

Finney County fugitive captured after 10 year run
After a decade on the run Nick Serraon a Finney County fugitive born in Guam was captured in Dublin California. He faced a March 1991 cocaine possession arraignment and was on the Kansas Most Wanted list since 1991. Transport costs to return him from Amarillo to Garden City totaled about 1200 dollars.

Garden City extortion plot ends with suspect’s arrest
A 49-year-old Garden City man is accused of extorting money via a murder-for-hire hoax. Police say Jorge Borjas received threats from an unknown caller who claimed a hit had been hired. The suspect Eddy Wilkins was arrested after missing a Friday money drop, held on a $10,000 bond for attempted robbery.
