Burglary on Crestview Drive Loots $5885 in Goods

Finney County deputies probe a weekend burglary at a rural Crestview Drive home with no forced entry. Jones Family Leads Kansas Livestock Association Era

Larry Jones, 51, becomes the 86th KLA president at the Wichita convention as a four-state alliance forms to boost marketing for cattle producers. Teens Ring Bells for Salvation Army Drive at Local Stores

Area teens including Desi Alvarado and Abraham Liberto ring bells at JC Penney and other stores as part of the Salvation Army Christmas drive. They volunteer for community service hours and a Kansas City trip, have raised about 14 thousand dollars toward a 100 thousand goal, and have logged over 500 hours. The program relies on teens from groups like 4 H and local schools and stores to fill shifts.

Construction slows in county amid rising values

Finney County and Garden City saw November construction values near one million dollars with most projects under 50 000. Garden City totals 979 099 from 36 projects while Finney County reports 32 750 and Holcomb 40 000 in November. Year to date Garden City at 37.7 million and Finney County at 6.2 million. Holcomb 1.3 million.

Task force urges changes to Kansas transportation funding

The Transportation 2000 task force told Gov. Bill Graves that the state should redirect sales tax revenue from new and used vehicles to the 10 year program and avoid further general fund transfers. They warned the 1.3 billion deficit risk across all rural and urban transport modes without continued funding.
