Deliverymen win $3 million back pay settlement
In Manhattan, delivery workers for the Food Emporium chain reach a $3 million settlement over alleged minimum wage and overtime violations. More than 100 workers earned under half the $5.15 federal minimum, with many set to receive about $30,000 each as part of the deal. The suit, led by New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, targets Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co and outside contractors for wage practices.
