AmeriCold’s Garden City plant faces mixed outlook
Derik Elliott, AmeriCold Logistics Garden City manager, told commissioners the plant's beef and pork flow now runs 220 to 230 million pounds this year, down from 270 million in 2003, due to mad cow disease and a 2000 fire. The plant employs 30 workers, serves National Beef and BPI, processes inedibles for pet food and pharma markets, and seeks more area industry and dairy processing to boost activity.
