City approves raised electricity rates with phased school church hikes
City officials voted to increase electricity rates, moving toward a uniform per kWh charge and eliminating declining block rates. Stakeholders including USD 457 superintendent Rick Atha and St Catherine Hospital CEO Scott Taylor urged phased increases over years to limit impact on schools, hospitals, and residents. Mayor Doll supported the two year phase in while utilities director Muirhead proposed annual to biennial rate reviews to curb future spikes.
