Holton Mulls Early Use of Banner Creek Reservoir
Holton may tap Banner Creek Reservoir sooner than planned as Prairie Lake dries to six feet below normal. City Manager Brad Mears said two backup wells remain usable, but a 10 inch line and pump station from Banner Creek could supply the plant within 60 days if Prairie Lake fails to recharge this winter and spring. The Kickapoo reservation nearby reports drought effects but maintains adequate supply by shifting sources.
