Over a sunny weekend, families visited the Finney County Exhibition Building for Santa's Christmas Carnival. Rides such as musical chairs and a moonwalk drew screams from children, including 5-year-old Zane Lopez who clung to his father Ricky. He preferred his dad join but was told he was too big.

Kearny County escapee caught in Perry Oklahoma

A man who escaped from the Kearny County Jail in October was captured Saturday afternoon in Perry Oklahoma. Jeremy Josh Watkins, 19, was arrested without incident at about 1 30 p m and taken to the Noble County Jail. Undersheriff Dave Horner said officials will decide later today if Watkins signs extradition papers to return to Kansas. Watkins was jailed in Lakin on burglary and theft charges when he escaped.

Kansas lawmakers revive covenant marriage bill proposal

Kansas legislators consider a covenant marriage bill that would require pre marital counseling an affidavit of intent to stay together and limited grounds for divorce with a two year separation. Senator Tim Huelskamp and Rep Kathe Decker push higher standard citing easier divorces hurt families and children. Louisiana Arkansas and Arizona have enacted similar laws.

From science to service a Garden City woman finds ministry

Kathy Jackson shifted from biology to Christian education after volunteering for her church. The Alamosa event with eight youth sparked a bond with Leland Jackson, whom she later married in 1987. They moved to Garden City in 1992 to continue church work, with Leland serving as Director of Christian Education at Trinity Lutheran Church.
