Ending the brain drain in rural Kansas push

In Topeka and Seot area communities a Kansas program aims to end the brain drain by cultivating local entrepreneurship. Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing leaders expect 9 to 12 applications by December for pilot projects that fund local business development and partnerships. Grants cover about two thirds of budgets over 30 months, with facilitators and resident advisory groups to build diverse local enterprises. Rep Laura McClure backs the approach, arguing locals are best to preserve rural life.
