Turkey Season Seen for Kansas
The Kansas wild turkey population is growing with 800 minimum birds and 125 Rio Grande stock released from Texas. Officials note strong adaptation to climate and nesting behavior, with a potential hunting season within about 10 years. Populations are found near Tuttle Creek Lovewell reservoirs and several towns, while Oklahoma studies hint at trading fish for turkeys to boost numbers. Turkey hunting relies on calling rather than stalking, and success hinges on concealment and timing.
